Tarbert Castle
Castle
About
Tarbert Castle is a scheduled monument of national importance because of the major roll which Robert the Bruce King of Scotland played in its reinforcement and enlargement in C 1325. The castle is now owned by Tarbert and Skipness Community Trust who with their volunteer organisation Tarbert Conservation Initiative have opened up the site, secured the ruins and improved visitor access.
The castle location provides an excellent family picnic spot close to the village where photography is a popular activity exploiting the magnificent views over the harbour and Loch Fyne beyond. Don’t miss our flock of Hebridean black sheep who provide conservation grazing on the site.
