The beautiful island of Sanda off the Kintyre peninsula in Argyllshire, Scotland, is soon to re-open as an idyllic hide-away resort where time and tide come as the most inspirational of standards.
Sanda is due to re-open on the 25th of March after extensive refurbishment to the existing cottages and restaurant . Now available are 3 luxury cottages, each offering 1 or 2 bedrooms and lounge , as well as a restaurant offering fresh seafood cuisine and the best organically grown produce from the garden and superb locally sourced foodstuffs.
Sanda Island is a private island of 400acres lying 13miles off southern Kintyre, known on Arran as "Spoon Island". The main operating units of Sanda Island Limited include the Sanda Island Hotel & Restaurant, the Sanda Shop in Campbeltown and the neighbouring Islands Glunimore and Sheep Island, with boat services for its hotel guests between Campbeltown and Sanda Island.
Sanda Island is an important bird migration and breeding point, it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), housing the first bird observatory on the west coast of Scotland.
Cruise ships like the Hebridean Princess are one of our regular guests on Sanda Island bringing passenger for a walk and talk. Others join us for celebrating a personal event or attending business conferences.
Our accommodations are, if we may say so, exceptional in Argyll and let the guests feel like being in a trendy boutique hotel in a city. But the awakening within a fantastic scenery, silence and peace, steps away from the ocean, makes the little big difference to it.
In the years 2010 and 2011 we have renovated the facilities on the Island to a modern and luxurious standard - always in mind that this area is a natural paradise. This is one of the main reason, why we are offering only 4 accommodations on Sanda Island. Further we improved the pier access and set 4 additional moorings for yards
