About

Why to choose Pantaenius?
•Agreed fixed value policy –there is no option for insurers to replace your yacht with one of a similar age and value.

•Cover for breakage of shafts, struts and propellers.

More reasons to choose Pantaenius
Unique policy wording that is described in the Yachting Press as ‘probably the best available’
When Harald Baum, international yachtsman and founder of the Pantaenius Scheme drafted his unique clauses in the early 1970’s he wanted to ensure that his policyholders would have true peace of mind and, if the unthinkable happened, the insurers would be there to pick up the pieces quickly and without prevarication.  He therefore wished to produce the broadest cover, in the simplest language and without ambiguous references to such terms as ‘due diligence’, ‘seaworthiness’, ‘average’ or similar terms which are commonly contained in other marine policies and which can become a bone of contention between the insurers and the insured.
The Pantaenius clauses were described as 'probably the best available’ in an article comparing UK marine policies.
First-rate customer service with particular emphasis on claim response;
Pantaenius has been settling yacht claims around the world for over 30 years.
We understand, and are sympathetic to, the frustrations of the owner who is denied the use of his boat following a claim incident and therefore we work quickly to resolve any issues and to authorize repairs. This is of course a two-way street and there is much the owner can do to speed the process (see What to do in the event of an incident)
Pantaenius won many plaudits for its handling of the aftermath of hurricane ‘Ivan’ in Grenada and that is the standard of response we strive to achieve in every case.
We have available a huge network of surveyors around the world and it is likely that we can source someone locally - if not, and if the situation demands it, we will fly someone in.
But service is not only about claims-handling.  It is also about the more mundane matters of cruising area extensions, re-valuation, travel insurance, payment and for these and a host of other policy queries you will always find a friendly voice to answer your call; you will not be asked to make 3 or 4 selections on your touch tone telephone before being advised that line is busy!
A truly international company with over 65,000 clien
